Cookie policy

Last updated: 7 June 2026

This policy explains how The 80:20 Pathway uses cookies and similar technologies, and how you can manage them. It sits alongside our privacy policy. In short: we currently use only the small amount of storage needed to make the site work and remember your preferences. We do not use analytics, advertising or tracking cookies.

What cookies are

Cookies are small text files a website stores on your device. A site can use similar technologies too, such as “local storage”, to remember information in your browser. They can keep a site working, remember your preferences, or help the owner understand how the site is used.

What we use, and why

We keep this to a minimum. At present the site uses only strictly necessary and functional storage:

  • pathway_theme (local storage, functional): remembers whether you chose light or dark mode. It stays on your device until you clear it, and is never sent to us or anyone else.
  • pathway_consent (cookie, strictly necessary): records your cookie choice so we do not ask you repeatedly. It lasts up to 180 days.

Under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR), strictly necessary cookies do not require your consent, and these are the only cookies we set at the moment.

Analytics (not currently active)

We do not currently run any website analytics, so no analytics cookies are set. If we enable privacy-friendly analytics (such as Google Analytics 4) in future, we will: show a consent banner, load no analytics cookies until you accept them, and update this policy to list each cookie, its purpose and how long it lasts. We will use Google Consent Mode, which keeps analytics off by default until you choose to opt in.

Managing cookies

Because we only use essential and functional storage, there is nothing tracking you to switch off. You can clear or block cookies and local storage at any time in your browser settings; doing so may reset preferences such as your theme choice. When we introduce any non-essential cookies, a banner will let you accept or reject them, and you will be able to change your choice at any time.
